This bike would be wasted on me. With the "wife and kid" lifestyle that I'm currently in I don't have the ability fully appreciate what it's capable of. And to be honest it's a bit to "high techy" for my usual tastes. I like em simple and rugged. But all that aside, I still want one!

Not Motorcycle Related... But way cool.
Every once in a while I find something that is only loosely related to motorcycles (or often not at all) and I regret that I have nowhere to comment on it. I tried starting a blog based on that but I've got enough to do with the ones I have so it went stale.
So I've decided that I'm going to create a new category called "Not Motorcycle Related, But Way Cool" for that occasional item that is too cool to pass up. I promise I won't wear it out and abuse the privilege by posting an endless stream of crap. My first example is something that "might" actually relate to smaller cc bikes. The Bamboo Framed Motorcycle. Now I'm no tree hugger (see my 2-stroke page) but I would love to have one of these. I could imagine a small moped would be very possible along these lines. Here's a link to a company that builds them: http://www.calfeedesign.com/bamboo.htm

Reader Ride. A Pair Of Great of Great Yamaha's From A Confrssed XT Junkie!
Paul Hutchins Writes in:
Swerved into your site and thought you might post my Big Wheel photos.
I have a almost pathological interest in the 500 Yam and recently sold most of my examples of this great cult classic. My street ride was this SR custom, White Bros. 540cc motor, high lift cam, 38mm carb, with Omar's bodywork. I also restored this 1976 XT, the first ever model in the States, it was mint original and brought a similar price from a collector in Sydney, Australia. The TT is a dirtracker that was once on the street, it is now an ice racer in Michigan.

Totally Sick! RZ500/R6 Hybrid. Too good not to share. Cross-post From The 2-Stroke Board.
You hear about bikes like this in lots of conversations.... "wouldn't it be cool to put engine X in chassis Y".. Well someone REALLY did it. More on the project over on BARF
"Current generation Yamaha R6 chassis with Ohlins forks and shock, Brembo brakes, forged wheels, and aluminum subframe. Engine swap with Yamaha RD500 (aka RZ500 aka RZv500) V4 twin-crank two-stroke. Handmade expansion chambers with carbon fiber silencers. Mikuni flatslide carbs."

The amazing Suzuki "Thinstrom" 650! A highly modified V Strom Suzuki.
I LOVE this kind of build. This is the kind of bike that Suzuki should be offering as an offshoot... For the complete story of this fantastic build go HERE on the ADV rider site.
Reader Submittal. Custom built Indian "Chout"
Buck Pinkerton sends in this really cool old Indian! I would love to own something like this. Damm near one of a kind! Thanks!
Hi,
This is a friend's Indian Chout. It was built by her father before she was born, ostensibly a 1929 Scout frame holding a 1940 Bonneville Chief engine that he just happened to find in a crate at the southwest airbase where he was stationed. The forks look to be latter day chief. Some time in the 1980s the bike passed through the hands of a "restorer" who added the H-D front fender and odd looking instrument pod. At least he painted it right and stayed out of the engine. The bike is back in the family now, and from stories I've been told it was one fast machine.
Ride safe,
Buck Pilkenton

DEVIANTE! An S4RS built into a dirt bike by Terra Mostro
Terra Mostro builds bikes like these with 695 Monsters. this guy wanted a bit more power so he had them build this thing. I imagine he succeeded!
Stock specs on and SR4S:
Horsepower: 117.0 @ 9750 rpm
Torque: 68.2 lb.-ft. @ 7500 rpm
Corrected 1/4-mile: 10.71 sec. @ 126.57 mph 0-60 mph 3.12 sec.
Top-gear roll-on: 3.32 sec.
Only one in existence and it's for sale over on Adventure Rider for just shy of $20K. And probably worth it!
